SIDS America Launches New SIDS Resource and Support Website

COLORADO SPRINGS, COLORADO - A few years ago, the world came crashing in on Bill and Cheryl Darnell, SIDS America founders, when they went to wake their infant son, Billy, for his morning feeding and found him dead. Billy, who had seemed perfectly healthy just a few hours earlier, had fallen victim to Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS), the leading cause of death among infants between 1 and 12 months of age in America.

"There were no warning signs, and there remains no explanation for the heartbreaking death of our little boy," Cheryl said. "With so many hopes and dreams shattered, we simply couldn’t imagine how life could possibly continue."

Grieving Families Find Hope, Help, Healing through SIDS America

COLORADO SPRINGS, COLORADO - A recent study from Children’s Hospital Boston has linked low seratonin levels to Sudden Infant Death Syndrome, a discovery that may eventually help prevent tragic SIDS deaths. But in the mean time, thousands of families a year lose their babies to SIDS. In an instant, their world crumbles around them.

That’s why SIDS America is working to raise awareness about SIDS, teach SIDS prevention methods, and, most urgently, offer support to families whose babies have died from SIDS. The organization is working with families across the United States, providing financial and emotional support for them in the difficult months that follow their baby’s death.

SIDS America is a national, faith-based, tax-exempt nonprofit organization under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Donations are tax-deductible as allowable by law.
