After the death of their daughter, Emily, Steve and Jennifer Martin turned to the promises of the Bible to look for hope and healing, and what they found was a passion and desire to help other families who endure the death of child.
“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God. For just as the sufferings of Christ flow over into our lives, so also through Christ our comfort overflows. If we are distressed, it is for your comfort and salvation; if we are comforted, it is for your comfort, which produces in you patient endurance of the same sufferings we suffer. And our hope for you is firm, because we know that just as you share in our sufferings, so also you share in our comfort.” (2 Corinthians 3:1-7)
Emily left behind big brother Alex and big sister Abby. Though they didn't get to know Emily for long, her brother and sister loved her very much. Emily was a valued addition to his dinosaur world, often serving as a landmark for a Tyrannosaurus Rex or Brontosaurus to explore. And for Abby, there was no better place for her Barbie to rest her weary head than on the head, arm, or leg of Baby "Em-Ma."
The Martins are expecting another little girl due January 1, 2010. While they wish this newest child would have been able to get to know her big sister, Emily, they give thanks for her birth and the life she will bring to the family and all she meets along life's way.
"Emily was the light of our lives," her parents say. "While we are so saddened by her passing, we are truly thankful to God for the blessing that she was to us in the few short months we had with her."

Just before Mommy and Daddy came to wake me on that Sunday morning day, God gave me my wings and said “Precious little one, it’s time to fly my way.” He told me that while I was created perfect and my time on earth was short, He has lots of work for me in the Father’s Court. I am safe and secure as I now lay in God’s hands, please know that I am protected as God revealed his awesome plans. God has shown me his great glory and what a sweet and awesome site. I can’t wait for you to see it; it is so glorious and bright.
Mommy and Daddy, when you lie awake at night trying to understand why, please know that our God told me, there is no reason for you to cry. When you weep for me and when your heart is so full of pain, I will always feel you with every tear drop stain. God will lift your spirit and comfort every single sad heart. He has asked me to help him as my jouney as an Angel starts.
My dearest brother and sister, take care of our mom and dad through all that life brings, until one day God seeks you all and gives you your own wings. While my body lies at rest, my spirit is forever with you. God promised he made heaven for me but also for you too. Some day we will forever kiss and hug, it will be much longer than just a day. And when we reunite, you’ll know you’ve finally made it my way.
